When it comes to the amount of information our digital society creates the amount is staggering. Consider this quote from the Motley Fool.
"The last two years alone have created 90% of the world's data. Let that
sink in for a moment. Every day, a mind-blowing 2.3 million terabytes of
data is created and stored. This information age has created high
demand for storage components, networking equipment, high-precision
sensors, and new-age analytics."
A lot of that "data" is of course in the form of images. Given the popularity of Instagram, Flicker and other photo-sharing sites future historians should have a mountain of data to reconstruct the year 2013.
